Planning for Fall & Christmas Sessions

We are enjoying our summer wildflowers, but it’s also time for photographers to start planning for their fall and Christmas sessions here at The Farmhouse. It is by far the busiest time of the year for photo sessions here and our calendar will book up early and fast—especially weekends! Here is some information that might help with your planning.

We book Farmhouse Sessions year round in one hour time slots but during the holiday season, we offer our Christmas Porch Sessions in 30 minute time slots to accommodate photographers scheduling mini sessions. If you book the Christmas Porch, please only use the side porch during your session and keep your clients together in that one area. If you book a Farmhouse Session, please do not use the Christmas porch during your session. Be sure to book the correct session type and be courteous if two photographers are using the property at the same time. The Christmas Porch booking calendar will be available soon!

You may reschedule your booking up to an hour prior to your session using the link in the confirmation email you receive after booking. If you do not show or do not reschedule your booking PRIOR to your session time, you will not receive a refund and will need to pay for a newly scheduled appointment.

Mid September- After Labor Day, we will begin decorating the front porch by switching out seasonal plants, hanging fall wreaths, and adding pumpkins as they become available at our local nursery. It should be complete by September 19th. Decor may vary year to year.

November 7- We will decorate the side porch with a Christmas set up right after Halloween so it will be ready for sessions by November 7th. Decor may vary year to year.

November 28- We will decorate the front porch with Christmas decor during the week of Thanksgiving so it will be ready for sessions by November 28th. Decor may vary year to year.

Christmas Porch Minis- Our Christmas Porch set up is very popular for mini sessions. The side porch will be available by November 7th. Here are some helpful tips when planning:

  • The porch gets morning sun and afternoon shade.

  • You are welcome to bring your own Santa and other props (cookies, rocking horse, etc.) Please come prepared to clean up any messes and do not leave trash behind. If you move a prop or turn on/off tree lights, please put things back the way you found them so the porch is ready for the next photographer.

  • Restrained, well behaved dogs are allowed. Please keep them leashed and come prepared to clean up after them.

  • Our parking area is the grassy area to the right as soon as you pull into the driveway. Space is limited so please remind your clients to arrive and depart on time when scheduling minis. Do not block our driveway or park or drive on either side of our driveway beyond the designated parking area.

The Potting Shed Garden is Coming Soon! We’re still in the design stage but will start building a custom potting shed surrounded by a large garden very soon. It will be located behind our garage so please pardon any mess in this area during the construction process. We are very excited about this project and when it’s complete, it will offer another pretty backdrop for photos.
